Bullish Shark pattern - Found at ENVOYTEX

Bullish Shark pattern - Found at ENVOYTEX

Shark

Shark pattern is a combination of a ‘failed’ wave, an extreme harmonic impulse wave and the famous 0.886 retrenchment.
RULES:
B point needs to be in range of XA projection – minimum 1.13 but NOT exceed 1.618
C point needs to be in range of AB projection – minimum 1.618 but NOT exceed 2.24
C point at 0.886 0X (not 0B) retrenchment or 1.13 0X projection
We have the freedom to choose swing 0X to create the most compact zone for C point.
2 elements define PRZ:
  • 0.886 0X retrenchment (not OB) or 1.13 0X projection, which ever gives the most compact zone. Sometimes you would need to eye for both PRZ to see how the price reacts to each level and decide if you want to trade it.
  • AB Projection

1)Bullish Shark pattern

In Figure 1, B point is at 1.13 XA Projection. The 2.0 AB projection and 0.886 0X retracement create a super compact zone for point C. The price gets rejected twice before the reversal begin. Take profit level of this pattern is at 50% BC retracement. As we will discuss about 5-0 pattern later, you will soon find out that Shark pattern is a part of a more complicated pattern which is 5-0. The green rectangle on the chart marks the PRZ of 5-0 pattern.

Figure 2 is an example where 0.886 retrenchment is quickly taken out when the price falls, which leaves us with another PRZ at 1.13 0X projection. Indeed, the price stabilizes in the PRZ formed by 2.0 AB projection and 1.13 0X projection. Price rallies shortly after stabilizing. Execution of this pattern is a bit hard and will be covered in another course. For now, just remember we need to keep our eyes open for both PRZ

BULLISH GARTLEY HARMONIC CHART PATTERN - Found at BDCOM

BULLISH GARTLEY HARMONIC CHART PATTERN

 - Found at  BDCOM
Bullish Gartley harmonic chart pattern suggests a buy order upon completion of the pattern. Here in the above image, XABCD is a bullish gartley harmonic chart pattern. In the first portion of the post, I am going to explain the way to find a bullish gartley harmonic chart pattern, and in the second portion of this post, I am going to explain the the way to apply the bullish gartley harmonic chart pattern.
How to find a bullish gartley harmonic chart pattern?
To find the bullish gartley harmonic chart pattern on candle sticks chart, we have to go through the following steps. Firstly, we need to find the X and A points of bullish gartley harmonic chart pattern. X and A points are found at the bottom and top of a strong bullish trend respectively. Secondly, we have to confirm the point B of the pattern. To find the point B, draw a fibonacci retracement tool from point X to point A. Point B should be confirmed by the 61.8% fibonacci retracement level of XA, in other words XA/AB should be equal to the 0.618.

Now let's confirm the point C. To find the point C, draw a fibonacci retracement tool from point A to point B. The point C should be between the 38.2% and 88.6% fibonacci retracement levels of AB, in other words, AB/BC should be equal to the 0.382-0.886.
In this step, draw a fibonacci retracement tool from point B to point C to confirm the point D. Point D should be between the 113% and 161.8% fibonacci retracement level of BC, in other words, CD/BC should be equal to 1.13-1.618 range.
We can see in the previous step that the D is between the 1.13-1.618 range, but it does not accurately confirm point D. That is why, point D is reconfirmed here. To reconfirm point D, draw a fibonacci retracement tool from X to A. Point D should be at the 78.6% fibonacci retracement level of XA, in other words, XA/AD equal to 0.786.
Now we will draw the XA, XB, AB, BC, BD, and CD straight lines to find the bullish gartley harmonic chart pattern.

How to apply the bullish harmonic chart pattern in forex trading?
The technique is very simple. Just place a long order when the point D is confirmed. The stop loss for the order will be placed at the price level at point X. The profit target for the order should be placed at AC trend line.

Conservative profit target can be placed at the 50-61.8% fibonacci retracement level of CD. Some traders also take the advantages of trading at point B and C, but these need advance fundamental and sentiment analysis.

Symmetric Triangle - Found at EHL

Symmetric Triangle - Found at  EHL

Symmetrical

Symmetrical triangles are formed when neither the bulls nor bears have an upper hand in a directionless market and can be identified when the stock makes lower highs and higher lows. If you connect these lower highs, you get a falling trend line. This resistance line is also known as supply line. Similarly, the uptrend line that is formed when you connect the higher lows is also known as support or demand line. The time taken to form this pattern is very important and usually takes 1-3 months. If it is formed in a smaller time frame, say 10-15 days, it is called a 'pennant'.

Though a symmetrical triangle is commonly considered a continuation pattern, there are instances when it acts as reversal pattern and, hence, one needs to wait for the final breakout. when the price goes above the resistance line or falls below the support line to identify the direction of next move. For instance, a breakout on the upside when the market is in an uptrend, can be considered a continuation pattern.

Since the trading range comes down during the formation of a symmetrical triangle, the chance of a false breakout is high (any increase in volatility can result in the price going above or below these lines). To avoid this, one needs to introduce strict breakout rules. First, the breakout has to occur on the basis of closing, which means that any intra-day penetration of lines is usually ignored. Some traders also apply the price-based rule, that is, the price should move at least 3% above or below the breakout point; or the time-based rule, that is, the price needs to close above or below the breakout points for three consecutive days. Like any other trading pattern, the breakout should be supported by volume, especially when it is an upward breakout.

An accelerated price movement, gap formation, etc, can also be considered as breakout confirmation. Once the breakout is confirmed, the next step is to identify the possible target price. This is arrived at by measuring the widest distance of the symmetrical triangle and adding/deducting this value to/from the final breakout point.

The ABCD pattern -MITHUNKNIT

The ABCD  pattern -MITHUNKNIT

We’ll start our study of the harmonic price patterns with the ABCD patterns. These patterns are as interesting as they sound and quite simple to grasp, if you have your Fibonacci concepts clear. ABCD patterns consist of 3 legs; AB, BC and CD, and can have some variations as explained follows:

The Classic ABCD pattern basically comprises three legs, a movement from A to B, a corrective move from B to C and a third leg from C to D.

The corrective move BC would generally retrace from B to the Fibonacci 61.8% retracement level at C. Next, the third leg CD would generally extend to the Fibonacci 127.2% extension level from BC to D. As mentioned in the above diagram the move from B to C can also be 78.6% retracement of AB and in such case CD could be 161.8% extension of the move from B to C.

The AB = CD pattern is a variation of the classical ABCD pattern and as the name suggests it has following characteristic:

  • Move from C to D = Move from A to B.

  • Time taken from the move from C to D = Time taken from A to B.

Please note that some sites would mention that the length AB needs to be equal to length CD. Please don't worry in case you are wondering about measuring those lengths on your trading charts. No one trades with a measuring tape in hand and what basically is to be seen is that the height from A to B (or the number of pips from A to B) need to be equal to height from C to D i.e. number of pips from C to D.

Trading with ABCD Pattern

Regardless of the type of the ABCD pattern, point D would be the point to enter trades depending if the pattern is bearish or bullish, as shown in the above diagram. The stop-loss can be slightly below the level of support or resistance.

In the bearish pattern on the left, you would sell at point D. You would buy at point D in the bullish pattern on the right.

The Harmonic Cypher pattern - NTLTUBES

The Harmonic Cypher pattern is visually an inverse pattern of the more common Butterfly harmonic pattern (read more about butterfly pattern). It is not as commonly occurring as the Butterfly pattern and is distinct by the strict rules that govern the Cypher harmonic pattern. The Cypher pattern was discovered and defined by Darren Ogles bee.

The chart below illustrates a bullish and a bearish Forex Cypher pattern.

Cypher Pattern – Rules

The Cypher pattern starts with a market price that establishes the X and A points. Once this leg is determined, the pattern evolves.
Point B retraces to 0.382 – 0.618 Fibonacci level of the leg XA
Point C is formed when prices extend the XA leg by at least 1.272 or within 1.130 – 1.414 Fibonacci extension level
Point D is formed when it retraces 0.782 Fibonacci level of XC
Point D is also where prices are expected to reverse
Targets are determined as 0.382 and 0.618 Fibonacci retrenchment levels of the CD leg
Stops losses are placed a few pips below or above the high or low of point X
Important points when trading the Cypher Pattern

The cypher forex pattern is not as common as other harmonic patterns such as Gartley’s or butterfly patterns
Although the occurrence of the cypher pattern is rare, it is by no means a pattern that offers a higher probability
Due to the rare occurrence of the cypher pattern, traders should make room for adjustments to the Fib levels
Waiting for the perfect cypher pattern will result in the trader watching the charts for a very long time with no valid set up occurring
The cypher pattern can occur on any time frame, but is best to use on H1 and higher
